Australian media lacking the political level

The normal media is appearing as a cheerleader for the fossil gas trade whereas portray local weather protesters as extremists. Has it misinterpret the room?

There are few issues extra exhilarating in Australia’s continued democratic story than to see the nation’s media stand as much as defend that important, democratic proper to freedom of the press. And there are few issues extra dispiriting than to see that very same media popping out simply as enthusiastically to disclaim the rights of others.

Freedom of the press? Hell yeah! Freedom of meeting? Effectively dangle on only a second.

We crossed some form of line this month within the media’s selecting and selecting of rights, with The West Australian embracing the rhetoric of the British proper’s media of alternative, the Day by day Mail, to assault the protests of the Disrupt Burrup Hub motion because the work of “eco-fanatics”.
