Sambalpur:
Woman college students of Odisha’s Sambalpur College on Tuesday staged a dharna in entrance of the institute’s administrative constructing demanding strict motion in opposition to eve-teasers and further safety on the campus.
The protest comes a day after two woman college students have been abused by eve-teasers whereas they whey have been returning to their hostel from the college market advanced, officers mentioned.
“Due to lack of safety, eve-teasers usually enter the campus and cross lewd feedback at women. We demand satisfactory safety preparations on the campus and CCTV cameras at strategic places,” a pupil mentioned.
Burla sub-divisional police officer S Sprint and different cops, who later reached the varsity, assured the agitating college students that safety could be tightened. Following the peace of mind, the scholars withdrew the agitation.
In-charge registrar of the varsity, Ashok Kumar Behera mentioned, “Satisfactory safety guards have been deployed on the campus. CCTV cameras are already there and extra might be put in.”
